NFT Lab Report: goblintown
a mesterklass in neftee launch wib gobblinz
we iz in ggob town.. dejen yummmz..
If you have been seeing these types of posts on your Twitter feed recently, you are not alone.
Newly launched project Goblintown has surged in popularity over the past hours since it launched.
In fact, at the time of this writing, it is number 2 in volume traded over the past 24 hours, beating out powerhouses like BAYC and Moonbirds.
Today's article will be a short one - just penning down my thoughts on why I think the project has been immensely successful thus far.
Do note that this is an extremely degen NFT project, and none of this constitutes any financial advice. Please DYOR before apeing.
1. Collection for the Times
A first major factor leading to its success is definitely its timeliness and relatability.
We are unquestionably in a bear market today.
Many people are hurt from the recent events and price movements.
Thus when something like goblintown appears, it immediately resonates with pretty much every single crypto investor.
You don't need to be of a certain geography, gender, demographic to relate to this.
We are all in goblintown today.
What's more, it started as a free mint so it was immediately accessible to everyone, regardless of your fortunes.
2. Fun and Consistent Branding
Starting from the art - it is like nothing I've seen before.
The art itself seems rather well made, yet hideous at the same time: Almost like a reverse aesthetic.
The team is also very consistent in their goblin branding.
Across all channels, including their website, Twitter, they have been consistent in basically posting like goblins.
What was most intriguing was even on their Twitter spaces they were making goblin-like sounds the entire time.
Realest spaces in a while. It's @goblintownwtf

It was fun, consistent, and truly a unique experience.
3. No Roadmap, No Discord
The lack of a roadmap ironically creates more suspense and interest from the community.
Many people are keen to find easter eggs and any hints at more future alphas.
With no roadmap, there are also little expectations for any future progress.
Everyone is just enjoying the fun and ridiculous ride with fellow goblins.
Without a Discord, community building is also made organically out in the open on Twitter.
Everyone is openly following each other, writing in goblin speak, applying for jobs in McGoblin.
This helps amplify the message to more people who might not be exposed to the project yet.
What's next for the project? Who knows.
But it is truly a masterclass in launch and branding in the NFT space.
With no prior hype or community building efforts, goblintown's launch and success is a sight to behold.
