Humans Of Crypto | Speicherx - Community Builder in Terra Ecosystem
Explore her motivations behind building communities and advice for new investors.
The next member of the Humans of Crypto series is someone who is rather prominent in the Terra community.
Besides building several communities in the ecosystem, she is also working on growing several projects of her own.
Her tenacity and contributions to the space in general is truly one to be admired.
Introducing Speicherx, an active builder of various Terra communities.
How did you get started with crypto? What drew you into crypto?
I started initially as a young adult who was starving and self-motivated to alleviate my struggles and reach financial freedom.
Given my environment (such as Singapore's), it naturally struck me that skillsets such as investments and trading were critical to attain such goals.
I dived deep down into the rabbit hole of crypto (primarily Terra) after a lot of browsing online spending time and effort on understanding how blockchain works and its developments.
What are you working on right now in crypto?
I'm currently working mainly on Terra, where I help communities grow & create helpful guides to help people keep up with what's going on in the ecosystem.
Across the board, I support protocols and projects with various strategies and advisory under the organization GT.
I also recently joined Coinhall, which offers prices, charts, swap aggregations, and analytics in real time across all AMM DEXes within the Terra ecosystem.
Why is community so important to you in crypto?
I think the community is everything because they are essentially the people who drive the product's success. They are the people you are solving problems for and the ones who have instilled faith & belief in you - from a company's viewpoint.
As fellow members of a community, they are like-minded individuals who may also be 10x more experienced than you.
Throughout my journey on Terra, I was very fortunate to meet many helpful pioneers who have guided me along, imparting their lessons and skills as I grew.
What advice would you give to a new crypto investor?
Don't be afraid to get your hands deep down and dirty. That's the only way you will learn.
The best way is to experience bridging, setting up non-custodial wallets and interacting with different platforms or networks.
Yes, you may make mistakes along the way - sometimes costly. But in my opinion, that's the most effective way to learn. You can call it learning curves, of which mistakes you would make sure not to commit again.
Be prudent in your investments and do not hold any bias according to opinions you may hear about online. Ultimately, your investments are your responsibilities - do you believe in your investments’ potential?
Determine if you want to be a trader or just a bag-holder.
What are some resources you would recommend someone new to crypto to consume?
Spend a lot more time on Youtube, Medium & Twitter. Make sure you read a lot on the basics first, one step at a time.
Don't try to learn what liquidity pools are if you don't know how to top-up fiat into your CEX account.
Go at your own pace and prepare yourself for a lot of potentially sleepless nights.
Do you have any advice for someone intending to join a crypto company or the crypto industry in general?
Put yourself out there, immerse yourself with the right company and educate yourself thoroughly first.
I believe if you portray yourself as such and find your niche (what you're good in), you'll eventually find a suitable protocol or project you can value-add in.
